The Call of the High Hills

Photo: Two walkers make their way along a path with a view of the Grossglockner. The most magnificent of the glaciers on the mountain is the Pasterze Glacier, 5 miles long and 3 miles wide. The Grossglockner-Hochalpenstrasse, a highway (opened 1935) connecting Dolfach to the north with Heiligenblut to the south, lies to the east of the peak.

This is a collection of twelve short piano pieces ranging from moderately easy to more difficult. All of them are no more than one page in length. All of them could be handled by the intermediate pianist and could be very useful as sight-reading exercises with more advanced players. Click the "Look!" link to see a low-quality preview of the music, click the "Listen!" link to download an MP3 audio file of the music and click "Download music" to do just that. By the way, don't try to print out the preview of the music - it is just a small photo file to give you an idea of the music. When you click the "Download" link you receive a really high-quality professionally printed page. Of course, the final appearance of the print will depend on your printer settings. I suggest that you print out the music at the highest possible setting.

All the piano parts have been converted into high quality Adobe Acrobat files that you can print out. This is a free application and you can download your own copy of the software by clicking here.

NEW! Now you download a full-colour cover page, so that you make a professional-looking album.

Just print out all the pieces, with the pages back to back, then print out the cover on A4 photo paper. Click here to download the cover page. It is a high quality pdf file, so it may take a few minutes to download. Take the music pages and the cover to a local printing shop to have a spiral binder fitted (like the one shown above). They are very cheap and help to keep you music flat. If you want, you can get the shop to put a transparant film over the cover to keep it clean. Make sure you have all the pages in the correct order before binding!
