Songs and Dances from Another Time

In terms of technical ability, this collection continues from where "River at the End of Day" finishes. Each piece is one page long. Eighth notes (quavers) appear in all of the twelve piano pieces along with dotted quarter notes (crotchets). Note values smaller than eighth notes are not used. Time signatures are standard and only one piece uses a 6/8 time signature.

All the pieces could be handled by a fairly elementary pianist and could be very useful as sight-reading exercises with more advanced players. Click the "Preview" link to see a low-quality preview of the
music, click the "Listen to MP3" link to download an MP3 audio file of the music and click "Download music" to do just that. By the way, don't try to print out the preview of the music - it is just a small photo file to give you an idea of the music. When you click the "Download" link you receive a really high-quality professionally printed page. Of course, the final appearance of the print will depend on your printer settings. I suggest that you print out the music at the highest possible setting.

Feel free to download as many pieces as you want, but please read the information in the "About" menu above.

Information

All the piano parts have been converted into high quality Adobe Acrobat files that you can print out. This is a free application and you can download your own FREE copy of the software by clicking here.

Now you download a full-colour cover page absolutely FREE, so that you make a professional-looking album.

Just print out all the pieces, with the pages back to back, then print out the cover on A4 photo paper. Click here to download the cover page. It is a high quality pdf file, so it may take a few minutes to download. Take the music pages and the cover to a local printing shop to have a spiral binder fitted (like the one shown above). They are very cheap and help to keep you music flat. If you want, you can get the shop to put a transparent film over the cover to keep it clean. Make sure you have all the pages in the correct order before binding!

About This Photo:

The picture was taken at the weir in Marlow, when it was bathed in late afternoon winter light. Marlow is a small old town in the county of Buckinghamshire on the River Thames. In the background you can see Marlow's parish church of All Saints which dates from 1832-5. It started life as a flat roofed nave with a modest tower and spire but the steeply pitched roof was added in 1889 and the impressive high tower and spire added in 1898-90.
